Handle Materials,
I use a variety of materials for on my knives. Acrylics, Micarta, G10 and Wood. Wood is stabilised where possible with a thermosetting resin. This gives the wood a robust quality to allow for minimal expansion or contraction. It also allows for wood which otherwise cannot be used as it is too soft but has excellent patterning, such as wood that is spalted. Some woods cannot be stabilised, this can be due to the high oil content. These handles can be soaked overnight in either Danish or boiled linseed oil and allowed to dry.
